A space to feel understood
Face to face counselling and based in Biggleswade. Emma Dowrick provides counselling in Bedfordshire and the UK for anxiety, grief, bereavement and feeling lost in life.

Our work isn’t about fixing you, it’s about understanding you.

If you’re someone who longs for genuine connection, emotional honesty, and a space where you don’t have to perform, you may feel at home here.

Life can feel overwhelming, whether you’re carrying anxiety, navigating relationship challenges, feeling stuck, or trying to make sense of life as a person in a world that doesn’t always understand you. If you’re exhausted from masking, overthinking, or trying to hold everything together, you’re in the right place.
I offer a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what’s really going on without pressure to perform or fit into a neurotypical mould. Together, we work at your pace to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and more yourself again, honouring your sensory needs, communication style, and unique way of processing the world.
If you’re ready to take the first step toward feeling better, I’m here with you.

My approach brings together three ideas:

-
We heal through relationships, the ones we grew up with and the one we build together in therapy. Understanding these patterns helps you make clearer choices and break cycles that no longer work for you.
-
You’re the expert on your own experience. We work at your pace, with honesty, respect, and straightforward communication. No pressure, no judgment, no need to mask or pretend.
-
Therapy gives you the space and tools to tackle what’s getting in your way. Whether it’s stress, anger, shutdown, overwhelm, relationship struggles, or the impact of feeling different in a world that doesn’t always get you, we work together to create real, practical change.

By combining these perspectives, I offer a space where we can explore how past relationships shape your present, the relationship you have with yourself, your family and work/ friendship relationships. Whilst also honouring your strengths, your autonomy, and your capacity for growth and to make changes in your life.

You can talk about any losses you have experienced in your life, changes that have experienced which are causing anxiety and confusion, past relationships which are still eating away at you and you feel you can't 'move on.'

You are allowed to be yourself in our working relationship, without any facade or feel you have to mask. You can get angry, shout, swear (I swear too) or feel joy or pride- whatever you need to feel or to say. All is welcome.
